In an economy reeling from a credit crisis, Wall Street meltdown and expected further unemployment, more Americans than ever are experiencing firsthand the reality that much of our manufacturing base has moved offshore to lower cost labor markets. Our service economy is likewise moving to regions where PhD engineers can be hired for less than $25 per hour. The result is a decimation of our middle class economy and yearning for government bailouts or long range political ideals to fill the void. Improvements to our educational system are needed but will not solve the problem for today's underemployed.
